Warframe Developer Reveals New Soulframe Free Action MMO

Warframe developer Digital Extremes has announced its new action MMO soul frame at TennoCon 2022.

It is described as a free-to-play Warframe sister title that draws inspiration from various works such as The NeverEnding Story (1984) and Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli projects like Princess Mononoke (1997) – highlighting a collision between industry and nature.

Creative Director Geoff Crookes added some additional information:

” The vanity [in ‘Soulframe’] is that the world itself is a little angry at what has been done to it, and the underlying motives tend to change throughout the day. So there’s going to be proceduralism in the cave systems and the crevices and so on under the world.

Instead of sci-fi, the game is made up of fantasy themes – with cooperative player versus environment combat and procedurally generated environments. And rather than shooting, the focus here is on melee combat – so expect “much slower and heavier” engagements.

There is no release date or platform announced yet, but if you like the look of this new project, you can sign up for email updates on the game’s official website. What do you think of this new MMO revealed by Digital Extremes? Leave a comment below.
