Update [Sat 18th Sep, 2021 02:00 BST]: Deltarune Chapter 2 is now available on PC. It looks like Nintendo Switch owners will have to wait a bit longer. On the bright side, creator Toby Fox has confirmed that the second chapter has been released for free:
Original article [Thu 16th Sep, 2021 03:55 BST]: It looks like it’s been a long time since we’ve had an update on the progress of Deltarune Chapter 2, and now we finally have some new information to share.
At the end of today’s sixth anniversary Subtitle Livestream, it has been revealed that the second chapter of Toby Fox’s latest game will arrive this week on September 17 (aka tomorrow). The catch is that it probably only arrives on the PC. Here’s the release date trailer:
In an FAQ on the game’s official website, there are a few more details about “computer” save data:
Q. How can I ensure that my backup file from Chapter 1 is transferred to Chapter 2?
A. Completion data is generated when you see the credits for Chapter 1. (Go to sleep in your bed at the end of the game.)
Q. I am on a different computer than the one I played in Chapter 1. Can I play Chapter 2?
A. You can play Chapter 2 without saving the data from Chapter 1. As long as you generally remember what happened in the story, you will be fine.
Deltarune Chapter 1 was originally released to the Switch eShop last February as a free download – so give it a try if you haven’t already. You can also read our review, where we gave this first chapter seven out of ten stars. If we hear anything on the Release switch from Chapter 2, we’ll update this post.
