Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania is coming to Nintendo Switch in just over a week and from our time with the game so far, it’s shaping up to be a very enjoyable experience.

We’ll share our thoughts on how the game holds up against the original. Super monkey ball and its sequel (with Banana Mania being a remake of both of those titles) in our review a bit closer to release, but in the meantime, game director Masao Shirosaki has been busy discussing some of the improvements and tweaks that are coming. ‘team worked at.

In an interview with Nintendo Everything, Shirosaki touched on some of the most pressing concerns of the Monkey Ball fan base, including how the camera works and what we can expect from the minigames:

“The main game camera in this game is based on Banana Blitz HD but includes some additional improvements. Compared to Banana Blitz HD, it is much easier to rotate. Additionally, you can now control the angle of the camera. that level of control over the camera in previous Super Monkey Ball games. I think that makes the new game a lot easier to play, but give it a try for yourself. “

“The party games in Banana Mania are the same 12 that appeared in Super Monkey Ball Deluxe. We have included some new cheats though, so I’d be happy if you could try looking for them!”

As to why the team was able to develop a remake of the original games as their next project? Well, it’s thanks to the support of the fans:

“We talked about making the next game because so many fans supported Banana Blitz HD. We had received a lot of opinions about how fans wanted the original Super Monkey Ball and Super Monkey Ball 2 remakes, so Banana Mania would never have seen the light of day if it weren’t for the voices of all these fans. We were able to remake these songs thanks to your requests. Thank you very much! “

You can read the full interview here if you’re interested; oddly, Shirosaki says he would like a future Monkey Ball game to allow you to “venture across the world with AiAi”. We don’t know how it would take shape, but we would definitely play it.

“I actually want to know what everyone expects from Super Monkey Ball * laughs *. As with previous games, we can’t wait to hear what fans think about the new game and what they would like to see in the future.

I like to go on an adventure so I want to play a game where I can go on an adventure around the world with AiAi! “
