Since its launch in 2020, the PlayStation 5 has been ridiculously difficult to pick up. Supply chain issues resulting from the coronavirus pandemic have all but halted production of Sony’s latest games console.
Thankfully, the inventory situation has improved significantly in recent months, with PS5 bundles readily available from at least one retailer since late April. Game and BT Shop, as well as several independent retailers such as The Game Collection and Scan continued to lead the charge.
This flurry of console restocks continued throughout July, and so far it looks like the good news will continue through August and into September. But while restocks have become more frequent, buying a console on its own remains a challenge, with retailers preferring to restock bundles rather than the standalone console – those sell out in the blink of an eye. We only started seeing digital console bundles hitting stores last month, but even those have since dried up.

Can you play Playstation games on PC?
If you’re hoping to play some of the best games the PS5 has to offer, then Playstation recently launched a dedicated page on its website for (previously) exclusive titles that are now available to play on PC. Expect to see fan favorites such as God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Days gone appearing on this list.
All of these games are marketed as “Playstation Studios” and the company has been wanting to enter the PC gaming space for quite some time. Sony has even developed headphones and gaming monitors for the booming market.

Are PS5 bundles still available on PS Direct?
If you’re hoping to pick up a new PS5 disc edition of the console, without all the bells and whistles of a bundle, then PS Direct currently has stock available for the standard edition of its consoles.
You’ll need to have an existing Playstation account to buy it, but it’s pretty rare to see standalone consoles these days, so get it while you still can.

Can you buy a PS5 from Smyths Toys?
Some stores occasionally have PS5 stock available for walk-in customers, but there have been very few consoles available so far this year. With Smyths Toys, the retailer has a tool on its website to check stock across all of its stores. Currently there are small handfuls of consoles available at various Smyths branches across the UK.

What PS5 bundles are available from Very?
Very is currently operating a pre-order system for its remaining PS5 stock, which is expected to ship around August 26, 2022.
There is currently still a bundle available from them with a copy of Forbidden Horizon West as well as an additional dualsense PS5 controller. This is a total of £559.98.
