Welcome to another Nintendo recap. It’s been a pretty exciting week as Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl released late Thursday night, giving many players a chance to experience Gen IV in a new way. The Grand Theft Auto – Definitive Edition trilogy also came out filled with glitches and gruesome visuals, leaving plenty of demanding refunds. In other news, the Game Award nominees have been revealed, but many believe Nintendo games like Monster Hunter Rise have been snubbed. Additionally, Twitch suddenly popped up on the eShop this week, and the Nintendo Switch has already proven to be a popular holiday item leading up to Black Friday. It’s a lot! so let’s dive in.

Shiny Diamond and Shiny Pearl Pokémon

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl finally released on Nintendo Switch on Friday, November 19, and they’re already chock-full of exciting new additions for Pokémon fans.

VPN offers: lifetime license for $ 16, monthly plans for $ 1 and more

Players can easily get the Mythic Pokémon Mew, Jirachi, and Manaphy if they have save data for previous Pokémon games. Specifically, save data for Let’s Go, Pikachu, or Eevee! nets the Mew players and saves the data for Sword and Shield the Jirachi nets. Manaphy can be used by all players before February 21, 2022, but after that it will no longer be accessible.

This will be the first time that the majority of players will be able to get their hands on these Mythical Pokémon. However, Mew, Jirachi, and Manaphy are all locked in Shiny, so you can’t get a Blue Mew, Yellow and Red Jirachi, or Light Blue Manaphy in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

Many players are already diving into the Brilliant Hunting and moving relatively far into the Sinnoh region. Unfortunately, Pokémon HOME, the service that lets you store and trade Pokémon from various Pokémon games, is still not compatible with BDSP and will only be so at an undetermined time in 2022. Until then, players can only trade with each other using BDSP. in-game business features.

Twitch falls unceremoniously on Nintendo Switch

Out of nowhere, Twitch released on the Nintendo Switch eShop on November 11. Players can download it for free and view their favorite games and streamers by using it once they have created or logged in their Twitch account.

However, players cannot stream their own games using this app. To do this, gamers will still need to purchase a capture card and connect it between their console and their computer. While it’s nice to have access to this service in another way, the Nintendo Switch version requires you to have your phone handy to view your account information or even participate in streaming chats. As such, it is not the most practical option.

HORI Split Pad Grip gets an update

Hori Split Pad ProSource: HORI

The HORI Split Pad Pro is a very popular third-party controller for the Nintendo Switch that has been out for some time now. What makes them so desirable is that they give gamers a much better grip while functioning as Joy-Cons that can slide on and off the sides of the Switch. The only big downside is that they don’t have internal batteries and therefore only work when connected to a Switch.

This week, HORI Japan announced that the Split Pad Pro is receiving an accessory to make them usable in TV mode. This makes the controller set wired, but there’s also a headphone jack and volume controls. The gripper attachment will be sold separately from the controller and is expected to release this year, although no specific date has yet been given.

GTA Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is trash fire

Horrible graphics of the Definitive Gta Trilogy EditionSource: iMore

The Definitive Edition of GTA Trilogy was released on November 11 for Nintendo Switch and other platforms. However, players keen to jump into the iconic series again faced a plethora of issues, appalling graphics, and even horrific rain. This isn’t too surprising given that RockStar showed virtually no footage or images for the port leading up to its release.

Among the large number of complaints players are reporting characters much worse than in the original games, cars colliding with characters in the middle of cutscenes, a character was spotted wearing a jersey with a faded number underneath the one that appears most prominently on its back, and the fog has been removed so you can easily see the whole map, which is not very large.

Gamers showed their hatred for this sloppy port by leaving negative scores on Metacritic, to the point that the GTA Trilogy is now one of the lowest rated Switch games ever on Metacritic and rested at a user score of 0.6 the last time I checked. Rockstar apologized publicly for the state of the GTA trilogy and says it “works to improve and update overall performance as we go along”. The company itself removed access to the GTA trilogy on PC for three days to people who had previously purchased it due to “unintentionally included” game files, including some related to the infamous “Hot Coffee” sex minigame and unlicensed music.

Rockstar said he was working on PC version of the trilogy returns to its store but in the meantime is offering the original ports for free to buyers of the trilogy.

We don’t know the reasoning behind this port, but in any case, it’s absolutely inexcusable that such a large company would allow a much anticipated and well-known trilogy like this to come out in such a state. So you should definitely stay away for now. We’ll have to see if they keep their promises to fix it over time.

Switch continues to sell well, but is hard to find in holiday stores

Nintendo Switch Oled Mario HolidaySource: iMore

As reported by Nintendo’s lifeNintendo of America’s Doug Bowser revealed that the Switch sold 711,000 units in the United States in October, of which 314,000 were the Switch OLED. Nintendo data also determined that many people purchasing the OLED model already have a Switch in their home.

You might recall that the PS5 broke the Switch’s 33-month bestselling streak back in September. However, he is back on his throne in October; that month-long lapse was probably due to people waiting for the OLED Switch that came out early last month. These monthly Switch sales give us an idea of how popular the Switch is during the holidays. Unfortunately, due to chip shortages and low supply, many online and in-store retailers across the US are struggling to restock Switch inventory.

With Black Friday deals just around the corner, it’s possible stores will keep their Switch stock and have some on hand once the Black Friday deals officially go live. However, it looks like you need to hop on a Switch when you see one if that’s what you plan to get this holiday season because they’re going to sell out fast. i suggest to use Stock market informant to find out when Switch consoles are available. Otherwise, you probably won’t be able to catch one this year.

Game Award nominees snub several games

Game rewardsSource: Game rewards

As with every big awards ceremony, players are unhappy that some games weren’t nominated for Game of the Year or other categories in Geoff Keighley’s The Game Awards. Nintendo is historically not included in many of these categories. This year is no different, with Metroid Dread being the only Nintendo game nominated for Game of the Year. While Samus’ latest adventure certainly deserves praise, it looks like Monster Hunter Rise should have been included as well, at least for the best role-playing game. After all, it made this long-running franchise more accessible to newcomers and sold itself incredibly well for being a Nintendo console exclusive.

As has become the common joke, the Best Family Game category is really the Best Nintendo Game category because it typically features Nintendo’s biggest releases for the year (and is often only filled with Nintendo titles). This year’s nominees are Mario Party Superstars, New Pokémon Snap, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, WarioWare: Get it Together! and It Takes Two. Yes, they’ve all been released this year, although it felt like some had been released a long time ago. We’ll be hosting our own Nintendo Switch game rewards on iMore next month, so we’ll give these snubbed titles the respect they deserve.

The Game Awards air for free on December 9, 2021 at 6:30 p.m. PT / 8:30 p.m. ET and can be watched on YouTube, Twitch, and other major viewing services. Log in to see this year’s winners.

Enjoy your weekend!

Well that’s all the news we have for this week. I’m going to dive deeper into Shiny Diamond Pokémon this weekend and hunt Shiny Rapidash because I love that blue flame so much. Hope you have fun too and can play the game you like the most.

Till next time.

- Rebecca Lance
