The Nintendo Switch is an impressive portable and home hybrid console, but internal storage is one of its weak points. The original Switch and Switch Lite models only have 32GB of internal storage, while this year’s new OLED model doubles and offers 64GB of space to store your digital game purchases. That’s a decent amount of space for small games, but you’ll quickly find yourself running out of space when you start installing more demanding titles.
There are three solutions to this problem: Buy the physical version of the games whenever possible, or invest in a Micro SD card which has sufficient storage capacity. The third fix is ââmore drastic, however, as you can free up space by simply deleting games and saving data, freeing up space on your Switch for new purchases. If that’s the only option available to you, here’s how.
How to delete Nintendo Switch games
On the Switch home screen or in the All Software menu, highlight the game you want to remove and press the + button on the right controller. This also applies to the Switch Pro controller.
Select the Data management option.
Now select Remove the software.
With this, the game will no longer be on your Switch, but you can re-download it at any time. You can leave a shortcut by checking in the game before deleting it, which will leave an icon on your timeline from which you can download it again.
How to delete save game data from Nintendo Switch
Most backups on your Switch will take up minimal space, at best a few megabytes. There are several games that require a lot more digital space, however, and when you’ve got a console filled with demo and beta savegames that take up tens or even hundreds of megabytes of space, it’s time to clean up. spring on your Changer.
In the lower toolbar, select Settings.
To select Data management.
Move towards Manage backup data and screenshots, then select Delete backup data.
Scroll through the games on your Switch and select the one whose save data you want to clear.
The Switch will ask you if you are sure, as this data cannot be recovered after this point. Remember that you must be absolutely sure that you want to delete your save file for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
