Hideki Kamiya and Yusuke Miyata, the directors of Bayonetta 3, share a special message with fans on the official PlatinumGames site.
While Bayonet 3 was first unveiled at the Game Awards in 2017, fans had to wait 4 years to see the gameplay for the first time. While there have been a lot of Nintendo Directs in this period, Bayonetta 3 was strangely absent from all of them. These 2 messages follow the Bayonet 3 trailer previewed at the latest Nintendo Direct.
The trailer of Bayonet 3 was filled with the elegant fights and over-the-top action sequences that made this series famous. Paired with a new outfit as well as a new hairstyle, Bayonetta has been shown battling enemies using a wide variety of combos and special abilities. After the official gameplay reveal of Bayonet 3, the makers of the game shared a message with fans on the official PlatinumGames website to further reassure fans.
The first post comes from Hideki Kamiya, Executive Director of Bayonet 3, who apologizes for the long wait. He mentions that the entire development team was waiting to show the game and everyone involved can now breathe a sigh of relief. Later, he gives credit to other key team members and promises that Bayonet 3 will exceed fans’ expectations. Kamiya mentions that he will be watching the world and history, and has chosen Yusuke Miayata as the game director for Bayonet 3. While Kamiya was making the original game, the development of Bayonet 2 was headed by Yusuke Hashimoto.
Yusuke Miyata, the director of Bayonet 3, also had a few words to share in a separate article. Surprisingly, he declares that this will be the first time he has worked on a Bayonetta game, but assure everyone that he is a huge fan of the series. Miyata had previously worked on The wonderful 101 and Astral chain, and is currently the head of Development Group 4 within PlatinumGames. He mentions that the trailer featured a lot of new elements, including Demon Slave, an ability that allows players to control hellish demons. Finally, Miayata says development is in its home stretch and fans won’t have to wait long.
Hideki Kamiya had previously stated the development of Bayonet 3 is going well, but some fans were rightly concerned about the state of the game. It seems gamers are generally happy with the latest trailer, with graphics being the main complaint on social media.
Bayonet 3 will be released for Nintendo Switch in 2022.
