AYANEO OLED does not have RDNA2 graphics

AYANEO is expected to launch its new game console next month.

Last week, AyaNeo announced that it was preparing a new console with an OLED screen. It would be a much smaller, thinner and lighter design than the AyaNeo NEXT series, which debuted in January this year. Although this device was announced alongside the AMD Ryzen 6000 series codenamed “Rembrandt”, the company opted for the Ryzen 7 5800 “Cezanne” and later Ryzen 7 5825U “Barcelo” APUs, both based on Zen3 architecture and Vega graphics.

Members of the tech media and influencers have now received new information about the upcoming OLED console, including new photos and initial specs. The device is tuned to weigh less than 500g and will feature a 6-inch OLED display. Unfortunately, it looks like the console will use the Ryzen 5000 APU, which means there’s no RDNA2 graphics like Valve’s Steam Deck. AyaNeo CEO has confirmed the absence of RDNA2 graphics on the official Discord channel.

Given the size of this new console and rumors that it will be limited to 12W, that means the device could use the Ryzen 3 5400U or 5425U, as speculated Cary Golomb. Both of these APUs are based on the Zen3 microarchitecture and AMD Vega graphics. These are quad-core APUs with a core clock of up to 4.1 GHz and 6 Vega compute units running at up to 1.9 GHz.

In case you were wondering about the actual gaming performance of the console, JamesCJ has a screenshot showing four games such as GTA5 or Forza Horizon 5. The game settings are unknown:

The console is expected to be announced in May this year. AyaNeo had previously confirmed that it would be launching a Ryzen 6000 console this year, but obviously that wasn’t expected so soon. In terms of price, AyaNeo OLED should be more affordable than AyaNeo Next, but it surely won’t be as cheap as Steam Deck. Therefore, Valve’s console will remain the only such device available at a sub-$400 price point and with RDNA2 graphics.
