Amazon Prime Day Nintendo Switch 2022 deals: Dates and deals to expect on consoles, games and more

With Amazon Prime Day fast approaching, it’s time to start thinking about what deals and discounts might be in store.

Prime Day is a multi-day online shopping event hosted by Amazon, with discounts on a huge range of top-rated products, from the latest technology to Amazon’s own appliances, appliances, beauty and more. A key product category on Amazon Prime Day 2022 will be gaming, and we expect to see deals for Playstation, Xbox and Nintendo fans.

Speaking of Nintendo, this guide focuses on the Japanese games company and the Prime Day 2022 deals for its Switch console. The Nintendo Switch is always a major talking point during the Prime Day sale, often selling out in record time.

In particular, there will be plenty of interest in the Nintendo Switch OLED (£305.95, Amazon.co.uk), the latest console that arrived towards the end of 2021 and was therefore not part of last year’s Prime Day event. Now a few months old, we’re hoping the new Switch will see its price cut as part of Amazon’s big summer sale.

To help bring you all the best Nintendo deals, we’ve put together this article which focuses exclusively on the Switch consoles, games, accessories and bundles included in the Amazon Prime Day 2022 sale event.

Remember, every Switch game works with every Switch console, so while there are different models of the Nintendo machine, any game featured in the sale will work with the Switch you already own. Likewise, if you see a discounted Switch that isn’t the latest Switch OLED model, don’t worry, as the latest games will run just fine.

When will the Nintendo Switch Prime Day deals start?

Amazon has yet to reveal when Prime Day 2022 will arrive. But thanks to previous years, we can make an educated guess. Between 2015 and 2019, Prime Day took place in July. Then for 2020 things were naturally delayed until October, before being brought forward to June for 2021.

For 2022, Amazon says Prime Day will return to its usual July schedule, but hasn’t announced the exact date yet. Since it usually takes place at the start of the week, we believe it will land on Monday, July 11 or 18. The sale event has lasted two days since 2017, so we expect it to last (at least) 48 hours this time around.

As for when the Nintendo Switch deals will arrive, it’s impossible to say at this time. Offers can arrive at the start of the first day or appear at another time during the two-day event.

Do you need Amazon Prime to buy Nintendo Switch Prime Day deals?

Yes. While everyone loves a bargain, one of the main drivers of Amazon’s event is to entice shoppers to sign up for the retailer’s offer. First serve.

Prime membership currently costs £7.99 per month or £79 per year, and for that subscribers get free next day delivery (or even same day if available), exclusive access to select offers , streaming movies and TV shows from First videostreaming music, free Deliveroo Plus and same-day grocery delivery from Amazon Fresh and Morrisons in select postcodes.

A subscription could well be worth £7.99 a month if you intend to use all of these services. But if you only want to use Prime to close a deal on Prime Day 2022, we recommend signing up for a 30 day free trial a few weeks before the start of the sale. You can then cancel your Prime subscription after the event (but within 30 days to avoid being charged) if you no longer wish to be a subscriber.

What to expect from Nintendo Switch Prime Day deals in 2022

We expect to see discounts on consoles, games, accessories and bundles for Prime Day 2022 – and, unlike last year, the new Switch OLED console might just be included in the sale. Other console versions, like the Nintendo Switch lite and regular Switch, are also expected to see their prices reduced for the two-day event.

Meanwhile, there will be savings on accessories like cases, controllers, and screen protectors, as well as games from the Mario and Lego franchises, among others. The deals won’t last forever, so you’ll need to keep a close eye on this item during the 48-hour event to ensure you find what you’re looking for at a great price.
