The AEW console video game could be released much sooner than originally planned.
AEW first announced their video game, but no timeline was provided. Now Fighting selection reports that there have been internal discussions about releasing the game in September, but this is tentative and unofficial.
It was noted that there was a lot of work to do on the game, but the plan for some time had been to release this year, and September is widely seen as the target schedule starting this week.
An AEW source pointed out that this is a tentative release date and that a publisher is involved. It was also said that fans can expect the match soon enough if all goes well, but a lot can change between now and September.
It was revealed in mid-March that there would be a story mode for the game and that some of the AEW wrestlers were contributing storylines. It was also noted that several members of Yuke’s team who helped make popular RAW vs. SmackDown video games are also part of this story mode process.
While Yuke’s is known to be the developer of the AEW video game, no publisher has been announced, but this new report notes that a publisher is working with the AEW video game team. It is believed that once the publisher is confirmed, more information will be released, such as a release date and other details.
Kenny Omega is said to be determined to make the AEW video game a success, and the word is that he understands how integral a great performance could be.
The official AEW video game is set to release on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One.
