The original Game Boy was one of the most popular video game consoles in the world for almost a decade. The Nintendo product has released a multitude of titles, some of which are highly regarded for their importance in the history of video games. While some of the titles from the original Game Boy received slight upgrades for future Game Boy devices or were presented through services on different consoles, very few made their way to the Nintendo Switch.
Fans have long been clamoring for Nintendo to bolster their catalog of retro games on the Nintendo Switch, and if they end up making original Game Boy titles available, these should be among the very first to debut on the system.

Released in Japan in 1991 and in Europe and North America soon after, The Adventures of Star Saver is an exhilarating platform game that has received no new treatment since the days of the Game Boy. This despite its enjoyable gameplay features, which include a variety of mechanical bonuses and interesting enemies.
The game also features an incredible soundtrack as well as fun interstellar and sci-fi environments. The title would be a great addition to the Switch’s retro catalog, and it would appeal to many fans who played the game decades ago and would love to remake it on a new console.
9 Kirby’s Dreamland (1 & 2)
Now one of the world’s most recognizable video game characters, Kirby made his debut in Kirby’s Dreamland. This game and its sequel are still very playable today, with fun character models and functionality similar to recent ones. Kirby Games.
Both of these titles appeared on the 3DS Virtual Console along with several other games bearing the protagonist’s name. Kirby is now a staple of Nintendo consoles, even being one of the best characters in Super Smash Bros 64. With such a long history with the company, it’s only fair that these two games are added to the Switch library.
8 The sword of hope
The sword of hope is different from many other Game Boy titles in its presentation. It’s a first-person adventure that uses turn-based combat. The medieval setting lends itself well to the style of the game, making it resemble a tabletop RPG in many ways, and this layout makes the game feel fresh even 30 years after its release.
The emphasis of the game is more on the story than the visuals. The sword of hope is slightly divisive among the players; many admire its narration, while others see it as repetitive. Either way, it’s a classic game that deserves a place on the Switch.
7 Gargoyle Quest: Ghosts and Goblins
At first glance, Gargoyle Quest: Ghosts and Goblins appears to be similar to many other side-scrolling platformer games on the Game Boy. However, it does add some interesting elements that change the format. For example, the ability to fly for a while adds a fascinating feature to the gameplay.
The protagonist and enemies are well designed, and additional bonuses for the main character make the title even more captivating. The game has received additional attention in the past, but it has yet to be brought to the Switch.
6 Gradius: Interstellar Assault
A non-stop, side-scrolling space shooting action assault, Gradius: Interstellar Assault is an incredibly exciting title from the original Game Boy console. While piloting a spaceship in space, the player must destroy a variety of enemies in an almost constant side-scrolling adventure.
While other titles in the series are available on Switch, this Game Boy title is not. The cohesive action is thrilling and requires the player to be fully focused on the task at hand. While the graphics are not as advanced as those of other games in the series, it does add an element of charm to the intense gameplay.
5 Super Mario Land (1 & 2)
The original Super Mario Brothers. is considered one of the best Mario franchise games. Although the characteristics of Super Mario Land are similar to this game, it marks the main character’s first time on a portable console.
With this came more limited graphics, but, although some may consider this less optimal than other classics Mario games, it can also be seen as a milestone in the character’s journey. Both games are incredibly charming and are still as playable as they were in the late ’80s and early’ 90s. They are not yet on the Switch, but a lot. Mario fans would love to see these classic games appear there.
4 Zeoth Combat Unit
A sci-fi game to save the world from evil aliens, Zeoth Combat Unit is a great track that doesn’t take a long time to master. There are a multitude of enemies that attack the main character of the mecha, but most of them are easy to defeat. Its relative lack of difficulty translates into a fairly short experience, but it’s still quite enjoyable.
With numerous bonuses located throughout the game, the mecha continues to grow more powerful and defeat enemies more easily. It’s an interesting return to the first games of this genre, and it would surely appeal to many gamers to see it on Switch.
3 Legends of Castlevania
The long term Castlevania the series has several Game Boy entries. Castlevania Captions It might not be the most beloved game in the series, and it might not canonically be part of the world of other games, but it does have its merits. In addition, other Game Boy games Castlevania the adventure and Castlevania II: Belmont’s Revenge were both included in the Switch Castlevania anniversary collection, corn Captions was left behind.

Even if Let’s go, Pikachu! & Let’s go Eevee! are available on Switch and both take place in the Kanto region, players would love to go back to where it all began.
1 Tail ‘Gator
A more obscure Game Boy title, Tail ‘Gator has been largely forgotten by time. Its gameplay, however, is undeniably enjoyable, and the main character is adorable. Tail ‘Gator makes great use of its surroundings, with some interesting features coming from moving in water as opposed to land.
This game is less well known than many other titles from the original Game Boy, but its inclusion on Switch would be a hit with fans who remember and still love it. Tail ‘Gator.
